Health and Safety

Our response to COVID-19
As the COVID-19 situation changes, we will provide updated information here.

Your child’s health and safety is our first priority:

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released updated guidelines for selecting, wearing, and cleaning face masks during the coronavirus pandemic. The updated guidance recommends that children 2 years and older wear a face mask when it is impossible to social distance in public settings.

To comply with the updated CDC recommendations, all Head Start and Early Head Start children ages 2 through 5, who do not have existing health reasons which prevent the wearing of a face mask, are now required to wear a mask while receiving services within our centers. Every day, your child will be provided a disposable mask to wear during classroom hours to assist with minimizing the spread of COVID-19.

Please take note that children are to wear the disposable masks that are provided by the YWCA during class time. Face masks that children wear to school will be properly stored if made of cloth, and will be replaced with a disposable mask, supplied by the YWCA, in order to manage the oversight of proper mask wearing and handling while in our care.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child wearing a face mask while in our care, please contact your Center Manager, ERSEA Manager, or Family Advocate at the center your child attends.

Thank you for choosing the YWCA Metro St. Louis Early Education Program. Keeping your child safe is our top priority.

Sincerely,

Stacy E. Johnson
Chief Program Officer and Head Start Director
