Early Childhood Development and Health Services

Parents are included in all aspects of the child’s growth and development. Learn more…

Family and Community Engagement

Head Start partners with community agencies to provide assistance to families in need of resources to help with utilities, housing, clothing, food, and transportation. These community partnerships serve as a link between parents and other community agencies allowing broad range of support for a healthy family environment. Learn more…

Parent Involvement

No aspect of a parent’s life is as important as sharing in decisions that affect their child’s life. Head Start offers many opportunities for parents to participate in decision-making regarding the operation of the Head Start program. Parents are encouraged to participate in all aspects of our program. They offer input through participation in the Parent Committee at their center, the Policy Council, or an Advisory Committee where they are involved in new employee selection, approve how Head Start dollars are used to support the program, and decide what opportunities are offered and supported by staff and parents. The role of parents in guiding the Head Start program is truly unique. Learn more…

Trauma-Informed Care

We can’t protect children from going through a traumatic experience, but we can help them cope and recover. Trauma Smart, a community based model developed in 2008 by Crittenton Children’s Center in Kansas City, Missouri, helps young children, and the adults who care for them, calmly navigate difficult life challenges by combining practical, hands-on tools and effective coping strategies. As part of our partnership with Trauma Smart, members of our staff has been trained in a parenting curriculum, Smart Connections, that will provide parents a variety of tools that can be used to strengthen relationships with their children and give their children tools to increase their resiliency through life.
