St. Louis, Missouri | July 31, 2025 — YWCA Metro St. Louis was proud to stand alongside the St. Louis Cardinals and the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation last night at Busch Stadium to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence and share crucial resources with the community.
This meaningful collaboration brings together a legendary team, a national leader in violence prevention, and the region’s largest provider of services for survivors. Together, we’re using our voices and platforms to say: Everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered.
Fans attending the game had the opportunity to engage with representatives from YWCA to learn about healthy relationships, access services, and hear how we can all play a role in preventing violence.
“Moments like this remind us of the power of community,” said Dr. Cheryl Watkins, President and CEO of YWCA Metro St. Louis. “When an institution as beloved as the Cardinals stands in solidarity with survivors, it sends a powerful message: You are not alone. Help is available, and hope is possible.”
Dr. Watkins also had the opportunity to meet with Joe Torre at the event. “Hearing Joe’s personal story and learning more about the work he and Ali have done through Safe At Home was inspiring,” she said. “Their commitment to prevention and healing mirrors our own, and together, we’re working to create safer, stronger futures for young people and families.”
As part of the initiative, the Cardinals are now displaying YWCA Metro St. Louis’s 24/7 Crisis Help Line number in all women’s and family restrooms at Busch Stadium — a small but powerful step toward ensuring that help is always close by.
Founded by Joe and Ali Torre, the Safe At Home Foundation works to end the cycle of violence and trauma through school-based prevention programs. YWCA Metro St. Louis complements that mission with a continuum of survivor services — including crisis intervention, shelter, advocacy, and transitional housing — along with early childhood education and career readiness programs.
