YWCA Metro St. Louis Names Merry Duan, DBA, as Chief Financial Officer

June 16, 2025 | YWCA Metro St. Louis is pleased to announce the appointment of Merry Duan, DBA, as Chief Financial Officer. Duan brings decades of experience in finance, along with a results-oriented approach to strategy and compliance. In her new role, she will help define the organization’s financial direction and ensure fiscal alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.  

Merry Duan brings a proven track record in financial planning and analysis from her most recent position as Executive Director of Finance, Financial Reporting, at Saint Louis Community College. There, she led district-wide financial operations, including budget development, cost-benefit analysis, third-party lease agreements, and external reporting. Additionally, she ensured compliance with GAAP and GASB standards while providing fiscal guidance and oversight to system-wide departments. 

Duan has also held senior financial roles in the aerospace and aviation sector, where she managed large-scale R&D program budgets, introduced innovative finance strategies to streamline operations, and aligned program execution with enterprise-wide goals. She has led multinational teams, developed AI-powered forecasting tools, and advised clients on international standards compliance.  

Duan is known for global collaboration, cultural intelligence, and passion for mentorship. She previously co-founded Chengdu Sun Shine Education in China, an organization that helps thousands of students with developmental challenges. She later helped launch Clear Sky Far-East and Consulting, LLC, a firm specializing in global technology consulting.

Duan’s appointment reflects YWCA Metro St. Louis’ commitment to strategic, future-focused leadership. Her combination of advanced academic credentials, global perspective, and deep financial expertise will play a crucial role in maintaining the organization’s financial infrastructure. As CFO, she will drive innovation, enhance fiscal accountability, and support the organization through its next phase of growth and impact.
